Day 10: Another sunny Skye day

Rowan and I by castle rock

Another beautiful day began with a leisurely walk up the hill behind Uig hostel, then down to castle rock and the fairy glen. We loaded our bikes and took the single track A855 around the top of the island, stopping off at the Whitewave café for some outrageously expensive strawberries and ice-cream in addition to the essential injection of caffeine. We looked over the ruins of Duntulum Castle then it was up the hill and across to the east coast of the Trotternish peninsula with stunning views of the dramatic cliffs of Quirang to our right.

Soon we reached the independant hostel at Flodigarry, large but very quiet and perfectly situated on the coast with picnic benches outside overlooking Staffin Bay. We dumped most of our clothes in the washing machine and enjoyed a short walk along the cliffs after dinner. A lovely restful day.
