- These locos were named by theme based on the company who operates them:
Freightliner locos carried names beginning with Freightliner, Virgin locos
were named after the 1960 TV programme Thunderbirds starting with No. 1
Scott Tracy and First Great Western
named there locos ending with Castle and have cast numberplates following
their tradition.
- 57/3s have ugly Dellner couplers for working with Pendolinos for Sunday
'Drags' when engineering work going on, thunderbird duties and even from
Crewe to Holyhead.
- 57601 had the largest number on a loco in Britain
